Mirando la foto del padre Looking at father's photo

Estando todavía tendido en el horizonte,
Still hanging on the horizon,

father mine, without anyone realising

me he metido de cabeza por tus pies,
I have put myself headfirst through your feet,

me he llenado de pan y huevo,
I have filled myself with bread and egg,

de patatas y ensaladas con tomate,
with potatoes and salad with tomato,

y así embetunado hasta las orejas,
and thus greased to the ears,

embutido en tu pecho, bien ajustado en tus brazos,
fitted into your breast, well tucked into your arms,

all my head has taken the form of your head,

mirando esta emblemática fotografía
looking at this emblematic photograph

taken at two paces from the lobster tank,

me doy cuenta cómo he desaparecido,
I realise how I have disappeared

quien se mira al espejo
he who looks at the mirror

para certificar que no estoy soñando,
to certify that I am not dreaming,

eres tú, padre mío; miro tu nariz,
you are you, father mine; I look at your nose,

es igual a mi nariz,
it's the same as my nose,

mis orejas son tus orejas,
my ears are your ears,

the way of wearing a coat, the dark glasses,

es igual al estilo de mi abrigo y mis gafas;
is the same as the style of my coat and my glasses;

it looks as if, for more than thirty years

you have been in this bag with my clothes

with all your little bones, one by one, intact,

you, with wrinkles, me, over there, with my worries.
